Child’s Dental Extractions Aftercare
Watch your child … your child should NOT bite or chew on their lip or tongue. Anesthetic will take 1-1/2 to 3 hours to wear off.

Bite on gauze 30 minutes to 1 hour following the extraction. If bleeding continues, bite on the additional gauze provided an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour. If bleeding persists, call the office for additional instructions.
Don’t rinse or spit out the remainder of the day.
Do not use a straw or suck on mints or candy the remainder of the day.
To help alleviate discomfort, take an adult dose o)f Tylenol or Motrin (chewable or tablet) prior to the anesthetic wearing off.
Take prescribed medication as directed.
A clean mouth heals faster. However, use caution when cleaning the area of the extraction for 24-48 hours.
Adequate fluid intake and soft diet is important following the extractions for 24-48 hours.
Avoid all strenuous activity for the remainder of the day.
If pre-medication was taken, watch your child closely during all activities the remainder of the day.
