Complete & Partial Denture Aftercare

Follow preventive care and diet instructions as closely as possible.
Your denture and partial should not be worn at night at any time.
Support tissues under denture and partial should be cleaned twice daily by using a soft cloth to massage and brush with soft bristle brush.
Support teeth for a denture connection or partial connection need special attention when cleaning. More plaque accumulates in these areas.
Use liquid Dial hand soap to clean. Brush all areas with a soft bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly. An over the counter denture soaking solution would also be acceptable to use. Never use bleach on a metal supported partial or denture.
Be sure to maintain a “Lips Together, Teeth Apart” position at all times during the day. Resting or pressing the teeth together will cause excessive tooth wear, tissue damage, accelerate underlying bone loss, muscle tension with jaw joint symptoms and damage any supporting teeth.
When eating, take smaller bites and distribute the food on both sides for balance during chewing.
Due to changes in the underlying gum and bone support, you will require adjustments to the chewing surface of the denture to balance the bite and the tissue support side of the denture as part of routine maintenance.
